The Kitayama 8000 Grit stone is a water stone and the recommended coolant is pure room temperature water. It is recommended to soak the stone in water for 5 minutes before any use, be it sharpening or leveling. Kitayama 8000 Grit has an open, non-impregnated structure, it absorbs water quite actively and retains it very well. It takes a long time to dry. Kitayama 8000 Grit stone is made on the basis of natural abrasive - silicon dioxide and alumina on a synthetic complex bond with magnesia, ceramic and organic components.
