Description

A variant of the natural grinding wheel of Welsh slate Yellow Lake.

The stone is glued onto an aluminum blank 3 mm thick with ends under “dovetail” and marked with laser engraving. Stone size (without blank) - 150x25x5 mm.

Breed for the manufacture of grinding stone called Yellow Lake (or Yellow Lake) was mined in North Wales in the area of ??the same reservoir, along with other famous shales for sharpening, such as Llyn Melynllyn or Llyn Idwal. The sharpening stones of Yellow Lake are the finest-grained of the UK shale and are recommended for fine-tuning razors, but are also excellent for finishing processes on any cutting tool. The stone is rather soft compared to other Welsh shales, but at the same time, even when working with water, it is positioned as grit in the equivalent of 15,000 grit. The stone is gray, it can be used with both water and oil. But the main recommendation is water, because in this case Yellow Lake gives an extremely abundant suspension.

The use of Yellow Lake slurik (more precisely the suspension induced by it) significantly improves the result obtained during sharpening.
A bar of Yellow Lake Welsh slate is finished and ready for use, leveling, if necessary, on glass, on silicon carbide powder.
